About Course

Welcome to Cyber Study Skills! The Internet offers many opportunities for learning, entertainment, and personal growth. The number of resources available via the Internet is immense, continues to grow at a staggering rate, and promises to continue to have a profound effect on how people learn, play, communicate, and work.

The goal of this COOLSchool course is to help you gain the skills needed for utilizing the many resources available on the Internet to effectively communicate, use information tools, and filter through boundless amounts of information to locate what you need. These skills will benefit you not only in your academic life, but in your professional and personal lives as well.

Included will be the use of computer-based software including a word processor and its various tools, communication tools such as e-mail, mailing lists, threaded discussion, and chat; spreadsheets and graphing; and skills such as searching the Internet, utilizing Internet tools and resources, evaluating Web pages, citing sources, and making use of multimedia.

This course was designed for students in grades 9–12 with basic keyboarding skills. Word-processing knowledge will be helpful to get you started, but is not necessary.
