About Course
If you're considering
this course, you've taken ASL 1, either face-to-face or online.
ASL 1 got you to second base: you can carry on a conversation
in American Sign Language. You know a lot of signs, the basic
grammatical structure, and something about Deaf culture.
ASL 2 will bring you to
home plate. If you want to be fluent, this is the next step. Why
aim for fluency? You can get into college with ASL as your foreign
language if you're fluent. You can use ASL on job applications if
you're fluent; you'll be bilingual. You can ready yourself for a
career that uses ASL if you're fluent: interpreter, teacher, speech
therapist, audiologist or counselor, just to name a few.
Best of all, however, will
be your full appreciation of this beautiful language, and the people
who use it. If you want to appreciate Italian, go to Italy. If you
want to appreciate American Sign Language, come here!
