Required MaterialsTexts Latin Via Ovid by Goldman and Nyenhuis, is available most easily through the publisher, Wayne State University Press. Students can order the book directly from them. The price is $25.95, plus shipping ($4.50 for the first book and $1.00 for each additional book; international orders: $5.00 for first book; $3.00 for each additional). Michigan residents, please add 6% sales tax). Wayne State University Press accepts Visa and MasterCard. You can place your order by calling 1-800-WSU-READ (1-800-978-7323, or order online at their Web site: http://wsupress.wayne.edu/classics/goldmanlvo.htm. Edith Hamilton's Mythology is available in at least two editions and is still being published. You might find old copies at used book stores for nominal prices. Please be aware that the two editions have different pagination so the Magistra only refers to sections in the book by title. A pocket Latin dictionary is highly recommended. The Magistra recommends Collins Gem Latin Dictionary (ISBN 0 00 458644 1) and The New College Latin & English Dictionary by John Traupman, "An Amsco School Publication." There is also a Langenscheidt's Latin dictionary around, as well as a few others. None of these should cost more than ten bucks. Don't buy it if it does. I also need to say that other textbooks that I looked at were all $30 or more. I was frankly appalled at the prices. Latin Via Ovid is cheaper than most new Latin texts, and usually you have to buy one for each year. In this course you will use the same text for two years of high school Latin. You,
of course, can order texts
