Poetry, Short Stories, and a Novel COOLSchool

Required Materials

Hardware and Software

Books

  • A dictionary - Webster's New World Dictionary Second College Edition is the one I use.
  • A thesaurus - any will be better than none.

Other (Optional)

  • I find that 3M Post-it® notes are handy for keeping my thoughts organized as I read. I stick them in the margins of my books so that I don't have to mark in my books. You might give these a try. (The Apple Stickies program is awesome if you like Post-it® style notes on your computer screen. I'm sure there is an equivalent in Windows. If you know of one you might share the title with me.)

Optional Resources

Web Sites

www.bartleby.com - for online encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, style manuals, and other reference books. (Be aware, this site is paid for by advertisers; please disregard the ads. CoolSchool does not have control over content on this site.)

Bartelby.com also has a fairly large selection of poetry and fiction to peruse.

www.bibliomania.com - for poetry, fiction, short stories, and some online novels.

www.gutenberg.org - the Gutenberg project has public domain texts.

Edgar Allen Poe - a very nice Poe page with many good quality texts for your reading enjoyment.
