Course OutlineLesson 1: Get Down to Basics Students will have an introduction to the tools available in COOLSchool as well as the opportunity to get their files organized Lesson 2: Dynamic Documents Students will work with various document formats that are commonly used on the Internet, including Microsoft Word©, text, ASCII, and PDF files. Lesson 3: Spreadsheet Savvy Students will learn to use computer and online spreadsheet tools to compute car payments and make graphs. Lesson 4: Everything Email Students will research the capabilities of their e-mail service and practice using the various features. Lesson 5: Internet Safety Students will learn to evaluate their own and others' online safety. Lesson 6: Consider the Source Students will learn to evaluate Internet resources for validity and accuracy. Lesson 7: Strategies for Searching Students will be introduced to a variety of tips and tricks for locating information on the Internet. Lesson 8: Cite the Source, of Course! Students will learn about the importance of copyright and learn how to use an online tool to cite sources of information used in their research. Lesson 9: You're History Students will use their research skills and explore reference-oriented Web sites to complete a fun project Lesson 10: Portal Power with Yahoo Students will customize their own Internet startup pages with Web sites and tools that are useful to them. Lesson 11: FURL Students will create and customize their own online bookmarks. Lesson 12: Podcasts Students will learn to listen to podcasts and create their own. Lesson 13: Animations Students will create their own 2D or 3D animations. Lesson 14: Create a Web Page and a Blog Students will customize their own Web page and blog using a Web-based application.
