Personal Finance COOLSchool

About Course

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Personal Finances

Understanding financial management concepts is an important life skill. From credit to insurance to taxes, it is imperative that students understand the consequences of their choices. By learning to wisely manage their money, students become more responsible citizens.

A thorough understanding of financial concepts, with practical application through activities and projects, will enable students to leave this course with applicable, useful skills for life. After high school, students face a world filled with possibilities, and the more knowledge they can acquire, the higher the probability that their financial futures will be secure.

Personal Finance is a one semester, .5 credit course which fulfills the Personal Finance requirement set by the state of Oregon for high school graduation.

The first assignment you have is Let Me Introduce Myself. As we won't be seeing each other face-to-face in this course, it is important that we know a bit about each other, verbally, at least. I would like for you to click on the link below, and tell us about yourself - things like your name, age, where you live and go to school, what you like/dislike about school, any activities you are involved in (from clubs to sports to volunteering), a good movie you saw recently, a good/bad book you have read recently, how you spent your summer vacation - anything that will help us get to know a bit about each other. Thanks!
