Course Outline
Lesson 1 - Personal Financial Planning: Students will learn about the importance of planning ahead in order to be able to provide financial security for themselves and those who depend on them. Lesson 2 - Banking Institutions: Students will learn about the different choices available for managing their financial assets. Lesson 3 - Consumer Credit: Students will learn about the variety of credit options, the pros and cons of each, and the potential pitfalls of overuse of credit. Lesson 4 - Stocks and Bonds: Students will learn about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and the reasons for investing in each of these areas. Lesson 5 - Taxes: Students will learn about the reasons why we pay taxes and how to complete tax-related forms. Lesson 6 - Insurance: Students will learn about home, auto, and life insurance, and why we need them. Lesson 7 - You're On Your Own: Students will learn about housing alternatives, rental information, and the costs of making it on your own. Lesson 8 - Career Information: Students will learn about factors influencing the work we choose to do, tools to help them get a job, and how to create a résumé and cover letter.
