ProceduresDiscussion Groups I believe that much of learning comes when we discuss topics and share our opinions and ideas with others. There are so many theories and methods involved in raising children. We can help each other by discussing what we feel, experience, and learn as we go through life. As you go through this course, you will find links that will take you to discussion groups. There is also a place where you will submit a paper but summarize your findings in a discussion area. It is very important that you participate in discussion groups. You will be graded on:
Quizzes In quizzes, each question is given points according to its difficulty. Each quiz adds up to 100 points. If a question is worth 50 points, you should understand that I will expect a complete and knowledgeable answer. If you think you need to retake a quiz, you may petition to me by e-mail. Essays You are asked to write several papers. Because of the breadth of topics, it is helpful to the class as a whole to look at different areas of development and share different perspectives and thoughts. While I do expect your papers to be detailed and thorough, I am most concerned with your understanding of the subject, the thought you put into your opinions, and your ability to translate this clearly to your audience. Length is subjective to all of that. IF you would like to redo a paper after submission, e-mail me and we will arrange for a resubmission. Your communication about this is most important. I will allow one resubmit per paper. I would suggest that you write papers in a word-processing program and "copy and paste" them into Ucompass. That will lessen the possibility of lost papers and make it easier for you to rewrite if you decide to resubmit the paper. Papers will be graded thus:
Communication It is vital that we communicate during this course, not only concerning assignments, but so that we can get to know one another. I strongly suggest that you check your e-mail daily. You can find your e-mail on the My Tools page of this course. Your ability to gain clarification and inform me of your needs within this course is dependent upon this contact. I also ask that you e-mail me once a week, whether you are turning in work or not. I take attendance each week and I do need to see that you are active in the course. Timeline This course is designed for 18 weeks. If you have different requirements, contact me and we will set a guide more adapted to your needs. * If you have trouble finding your grades or reading my feedback on your work, you can go to the My Tools page and click on Grades, or click back on the assignment to see your grade and feedback. * All work must be turned in at least three days prior to the end of term to allow for grading and transfer of grades to your school. I can't be responsible for work turned in on the last day.
